We live in a world where physical perfection is presented as ideal. My work explores images of female beauty by subverting photographs of models often seen in magazines. To do so, I largely focus on the facial features of these women and use expressionist painterly techniques in order to transform and draw attention to features that are often the source of insecurity and resulting augmentation. For me, the paintings highlight ‘imperfect’ features in order to present them as raw beauty.
